I know it is overwhelming to decide which session to attend given the entire list of sessions. I have decided to make your life easy by picking and choose some sessions which you should attend based on your role. Again these are sessions which are based on my experience and the folks I know presenting. All sessions are good and so I will leave it to you to make the best decision.!! 🙂
Recruitment and Admissions
If you are in recruitment team and admissions team, here are some sessions which you should attend.
3/21
- Putting Interactions to work for you – 2 pm: Great session by University of Miami team with their free open source app Student Recruitment service pack. This session would help you to easily add students and track their interaction using Salesforce and automatically add accounts, contacts, affiliations, and opportunities in a couple of clicks.
- GDPR:Data Protection Compliance- 3 pm: This is a must attend for institutions who are marketing to international students especially European union. GDPR is a compliance requirement to be implemented in Europe in May 2018 which states that if a student asks his data to be removed, his entire data, activities and all records need to be wiped out completely.

- Territory Management: The Art, Science and Technology Behind ROI – 10 AM: This is a good session for universities who are trying to automate their assignment process for prospective students to their advisors or admission team

- Projecting NTR with Opportunities: 9:30 am – This is a great session by Morovian college where they show how to use opportunities to track your student pipeline.
Marketing Team
If you are in marketing for your university, here are some sessions which you should attend.

- The Journey to Marketing Cloud: 2 pm – A great session for institutions who are thinking to implement marketing cloud with advice on requirement gathering and do an enterprise-wide implementation.

- Improving Efficiency of Alumni Volunteer Management with Salesforce-11 AM: This is a great session by Keri Fadden from Allegheny College. This session would help you to learn about the free app volunteers for salesforce and help you to leverage it to increase engagement with Alumni volunteers.
- Live Demo:Social Studio and Live Demo: Marketing Communications – 2pm: This would be great demo sessions to see the marketing automation products in action.
- Texting Best Practices: Using Automation to initiate a Genuine 2-way conversation – 4pm: A great session to learn about interacting with students using text messages in an automated fashion.
IT Teams
If you are in IT , here are some great sessions which you should certainly attend.

- Understanding Table Driven Trigger Management(TDTM) in HEDA: 12 PM– A great session to understand how triggers work with HEDA and how to customize them quickly.
- Data Governance for Higher ED- 1PM: This is a circle of success session where you can quickly colloborate with your peers on best practices on data quality, managing compliance like FERPA .
- Introduction to AMPscript-2:30 pm : A great session to learn ampscript if you plan to use marketing cloud and do advance customization.

- Build an org strategy: 10 am: A great circle of success session where you can colloborate with your peers to understand single org, multiple org and decide best practices on integration.
- Crash Course: Blend CRM and CMS – 10 AM: A great session by Cornell and by Rebecca Joffrey which would help you to understand best practices on integrating your websites with salesforce and use open source systems like Drupal, Communities and others.
- Finding the Maruder’s Map: Creating New Pathways to HEDA – 11 AM: This is a great session which I am co-presenting with a great team with University of New England. This would be a great session to learn on best practices to migrate to HEDA, best practices on Pardot implementation. 😛
- Ask an Architect – 11 am : A good session to ask Salesforce architects and learn best practies from them.
- Admin tools for Free!( And Other Things You might Not know are free) -11:15 am: This is a great session for you to get to learn some free tools which you can use for Administration.
- Free Powertools for the Awesome(Higher Ed Admin) – 12 pm: This session is done by the awesome Corey Snow(Salesforce MVP). I would highly recommend this session where you would get to learn some good tools and tricks.
- Integrating Banner: Transform your Student Data- 3pm: This is a great session on learning best practices with Banner.
- Multi-point Integrations to Streamline New Enrollments- 4 pm: This is a great session done by WPI which would help you on using ETL tools and integrating data between multiple sources.
- Salesforce DX: Streamlining the Application Development Lifecycle- 4:30 pm– This is a must-attend session for IT folks to understand the great tool Salesforce dx which would help to speed up Deployments to salesforce.

- Advanced BI Analytics: Tips on HEDA Migration& Integrating Multiple Data sources- 10 AM: I am presenting this session along with the University of New England folks. If you are looking to integrate multiple sources and learn how to leverage Tableau, you would walk away with a lot of goodies!! 😛
- Agile Collaboration: NYU Sterns cultural Transformation- 10 am: A great session byGreg Etling which would help you to learn how to use Agile with Salesforce and learn best practices on change management.
Salesforce Admins
For Salesforce admins or folks who are new to Salesforce and would probably do the admin role, here are some great sessions which you should attend.

- Easy as 1,2,3: Technical Workshops – 2 pm: Great session and demo on a free open source tool to build applications dynamically for your prospective students. This is a great session presented by Kathleen Lueckeman and Maryville University team.
- Automation Station: 10 Apps to make Admins and End Users live Easier-4pm: A great session by Salesforce MVPS ( Joanna Iturbe and Florence Parodi) which would help you to wow your users and increase adoption.
- Bad Names, Addresses and Duplicates: How to improve Data Quality-5PM: A great session by my friends at University of ST.Thomas which would help to learn tips and tricks for cleaning your data and keeping it clean.

- Test Drive UBU: A free community developed Enterprise Org- 9 am: A great session by my friends Amir Tejani and Cameron. If you are planning to do a quick demo with your users, this free tool would help you load salesforce with realistic data and show the power of Salesforce.
Giving Back Sessions
If you would like to feel good and help in volunteering , here are 2 sessions which you can plan to attend. This is part of the salesforce Ohana culture and your presence would really help the high school kids to choose a right career.

To summarize, here are 4 things you should do at the higher ed summit.
- Identify one thing you want to learn or have questions about in Salesforce. When you talk to other universities or consultants, always let them know on one thing and ask them to connect you with right person to have your questions answered.
- Please make sure you wear comfortable shoes, water, and battery chargers for your phones to help you throughout the 3 days.
- Leverage Birds of Feathers session during lunch time to network with other folks.
- Feel good by attending giving back sessions.
